COVID19 After Action Workshop by National Center for Disaster Preparedness

The Child Welfare Sub-committee of the New Hanover Disaster Coalition and the National Center for Disaster Preparedness (NCDP), Earth Institute, Columbia University invite you to join us for a COVID-19 After-Action Conference on Wednesday, July 1st, 2020! Please join us for this workshop to help create a healthier and more resilient New Hanover County.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, we had planned to hold a tabletop exercise focused on testing the county’s plans to meet the needs of children in disasters. However, given the ongoing pandemic and social distancing recommendations, we’ve decided to focus our efforts instead, on understanding our response to the immediate COVID-19 crisis.

This virtual After-Action Conference will focus on the disaster response challenges we’ve faced and the lessons we’ve learned so far in 2020, with a particular emphasis on the COVID-19 pandemic. With hurricane season already underway, the session will also address how to keep our community safe during the threat of natural disasters in the age of COVID-19, and the potential for additional waves of this pandemic.

The discussion will take place over the Zoom virtual meeting platform, with breakout rooms designed for discussions about specific topics which you will be able to select during registration. Please contact Mebane for any questions.

For full event details and registration link, see below. Please register no later than June 24th, 2020.
